I need this program on linux.
I'll even buy a copy if you port it to linux.
I'll stop bothering you now. |

Selling a license to you at $90, is not enough incentive to set aside two months development time for the Linux port
All I can say for certain is that it won't happen this year. |

I'm thinking you could probably sell several copies. I can only guarantee you the one.
Linux would give you a platform with no real predefined hierarchy and, maybe, a lot of appreciative customers.
As to development time... these guys could probably help you out...

It is something to consider... :} Lots of folk needing a "killer app". |

I, too!
I'm actually moving from Windows to Linux because I don't like the direction that Microsoft goes with DRM, TCPA and such shit.
But I miss a killer MIDI/Audio-Sequencer on Linux. |

Hi sonicwarrior,
It's not practically possible for me singlehandedly to support multiple platforms. I have no experience with Linux, so it would require a lot of research for me to even estimate how much time it would take to make a Linux port. It is not going to happen for at least a couple of years.

As far as I can tell, during those 4 years Linux has not gained marketshare from Windows, and I don't see any signs for that to change in the near future. So unfortunately the answer I give today is the same same as I gave 4 years ago. |

oh i know sorry if it sounded like i was being an impatient twat.
i recently had some interest in going linux. i did a search on the forums, and this was the first thread i came across.
my post was simply meant to be a-- 'hey i still have interest, and i'm willing to purchase another license for a linux version.'
keep up the good work man. _________________ www.22tape.blogspot.com

AFAIK, Podium is working fine on Linux using the Wine emulator. A port of Podium to a native Linux application is however not an easy fix, and it will require months of work. Same thing can be said for an OSX port. |

| ..whats the point really, not alot of linux vsts out there, and not much payback for the time and effort put in, there seem to be some really nice free programs out there for linux already . Looking at energyxt2 I'm not sure how well the port went in terms of customer satisfaction and new adopters, takes a lot of work and research to develop for linux. A much smarter move would be to develop for mac since mac users have a bit of cash to spend to begin with but there again how big is the payoff isn't windows still the 10-1 favorite? |

windows and osx are bloated. gates and jobs have enough of my money. i'd rather give my money to fritz. i don't need vst's. i like podium.
i'm an energy xt expat, so i'll be getting another license when i go linux. just dreaming of podium linux, that's all. though i completely empathize with Fritz on this matter. _________________ www.22tape.blogspot.com

There is a way to compile with the wine layers included so your app works "native" on mac and linux without requiring a seperate install of (dar)wine.
This is how google ported picasa if I got it right.
This might be an easy way for podium to go mac and potentially gain some marketshare. |

| I would definitely make use of a Linux port should it ever become available. Been dabbling with Linux for years. |
